My 95 also flashes the SYS light at me. I even put a new battery in it and
it still does it. The manual says that it is an electrical problem and to
see the GM Dealership. So I did. They said that it was a short to ground in
the instrument cluster. The only way to fix it is to replace the entire
cluster. But the good news is that it won`t effect anything else because
further diagnosis showed that it is my digital read out. It will dim and get
bright while normal driving. This is something that I have just learned to
live with. No big deal. The battery is not the problem. You can also use a
paperclip to run the troublecodes on your speedo readout. Hope this helps.

There are two main reasons that I have seen the SYS error:
1. The Battery is failing
2. An aftermarket Stereo was installed and the Resister modification was not
done at the time of the install. This needs to be done on late model C-4s.
I am sure there are other reasons but those are the two common ones I know
of.
